A papercut I made recently. It was on display at the Sevenoaks Kaleidoscope Gallery during the Home exhibition. In association with Sevenoaks Welcomes Refugees, seven artist explored what Home means to them. First I had a different work in mind, but last minute I decided to do something different, I wanted to make a work that responded on the situation in Afghanistan. People desperately trying to flee the country when the enemy made their entrance. We all saw it happening on television, from a safe distance. And after that we all return to our daily life. But maybe in the back of our heads; this could happen everywhere. You never know. Maybe by making this work I try to create some awareness. But creating for whom? I think for myself to start with.
