Exploring lithography

My newest lithography, the gathering, is in a way a bit different from my previous lithographies. It suggests something rather than going into detail. A way of drawing in which I followed the material of the hard and the soft crayons. Yet, in control of every line. That is the mind of a printmaker because you know that every line and every dot you leave on that stone will be visible when it reappears on the paper. But still, I was able to explore by playing with the material.

There is this print I made a couple of years ago, A Swedish life, it is quite a popular print and many people have bought it. Can I do that again? I tried to but I noticed I got stuck, it was as if I was repeating myself. The sketches were empty. After I printed the gathering something new opened up for me, experimenting with the material and with color. It made me happy and excited and I decided that next fall I would like to continue exploring lithography. I would like to work on a longer project and dive into the technique, time is not an issue.

It is also something I could do on the side while writing my master thesis. Maybe it does not turn out to be the next Swedish life, but for me as an artist I will have something new to discover. I was distracted by the success of A Swedish life. But the source of my printmaking has always been curiosity, enthusiasm and new ideas, always. If I make a Swedish life again, it will happen because the genuin intention is there.

In may 2026 I received an award in recognition of my printmaking. In the motivation it says that I always extend the possibilities of printmaking. And that is something I intend to continue with.
